On the couch with Sharon Kell: Having your cake and eating it

Emotional

<br />

Haven’t we all been tempted by that slice of sticky chocolate fudge cake… the question is, do we have our cake and enjoy that delicious, fleeting moment?
Or do we think ahead, and decide NO, we would rather get into those designer jeans or maybe even that flirtatious little black dress that will wow our boss, or even more importantly, the ‘cat pack’ who will be watching like hawks to rate everyone in the office on the unoffocial best dressed list at the Christmas party… and guys, don’t think you are getting away lightly here, temptations come in many forms – it’s all about judgement of whether or not to take that temptation, whatever it may be, or stand back and look at the bigger picture. Instant temptation versus long-term gratification…

Not being able to demonstrate self control and sacrifice in the short term, is often a sign of someone who has low self-esteem and is something that we have ALL experienced in our lives at some stage.

But how do we break this habit?

When we take the decision to sacrifice in the short term, to gain in the long term, we are actually taking control of our lives. This is how we break the habit. It is all about impulse versus control.

So make it your mission, in fact make it your resolution, to look at the bigger picture. Take control and find balance. Not just on the 31st December, but at the end of every month, every month, even every day. You CAN have your cake and eat it – just find the right equalibrim and ultimately it should all fall into place…

Have a healthy and happy Christmas & New Year Sharon Kell x
